My Entrepreneurship Story!

My entrepreneurship story comes from the job that I have had for the last four years. I work at a county recreation center in which I am a camp counselor and coach to just over two hundred kids age 5-13. When I started in early 2014 the center offered only 4 sports leagues: flag football, soccer, basketball, and cheerleading. In my eyes that was not enough, so like an entrepreneur I conceptualized more ideas to offer more options throughout the school year. So I began to offer a floor hockey league, the first and only in the county, as well as a whiffle ball league. Over the last few years I have grown the floor hockey league to include nearly 100 participants. This has become the most populated league in the county and I find it very rewarding when the parents compliment my effort and execution. Also starting from nothing, the whiffle ball league now involves between 50 and 60 participants. After those two leagues hit the ground running I wanted to continue innovating and the following school years created a handball league as well as a golf instruction course. Handball, although not very popular in the United States, has become very popular with our students and involves nearly 75 participants and continues to grow every year. Lastly just last school year I began to offer golf instruction. Although this is league is faced with the most limitations because we don’t have a golf course, it was still very successful as I enjoyed teaching 15 fourth and fifth grade students and expect to expand this school year.

I enrolled in this class because entrepreneurship has always been an interesting concept to me. I think of myself as a problem solver and I believe that this course can help me view the world in different ways in order to help enhance my problem solving skills. Another idea that goes hand in hand with entrepreneurship is being your own boss. I hope to learn things that I never thought would be an opportunity until I joined this class.

My Bug List!

20 thing that bug me and why they are issues

1. People who use their phones while driving for any reason such as texting, calling or playing music.
This problem stems from our society wide phone dependency.

2. Nutritious foods being much more expensive than less healthy foods.
This problem comes from the fact that it is cheaper to process the foods making them less healthy and less expensive.

3. Growing amounts of fighting in youths.
Through the growth of social media we have seen this kind of behavior become popularized.

4. Increasing technology use for kids in non-scholastic ways.
Children are becoming dependent on phones and iPads at a very early age.

5. Individuals who believe that they are superior to others for whatever reason.
This stems from as well as creates hate, which is the root of most of the world's issues.

6.Wealthy individuals, often times athletes that get away with crimes simply because of money and status.
Many times these issues get resolved by paying the victim off and it sends the wrong message to the world especially the youth community.

7. Pet odor eliminators that don't rid of the smell but simply mask it.
With this the pets ( like my dog) continues to pee in the same spot on the rug.

8. Things that fall between my seat in my car and my center console.
Can become dangerous while I am driving but also can be incredibly hard to get.

9. It seems as though all vacuums are obnoxiously loud, and get even louder when you're doing homework and your girlfriend doesn't care.
It seems like the noise is unnecessary although I am no vacuum expert.

10. Volume controls on the TV are not precise enough.
An extremely first world bug, but many TVs are too quiet on one level and are too loud on the next level.

11. Poorly paved and unkempt roads, very common in Florida, on top of the fact that there is never ending construction.
Can become very hazardous to those driving and could also be expensive if it effects the car.

12. People who eat loudly, without an ounce of care.
It is gross and irritating for anyone like myself with misophonia. For those who don't know this is when a person gets irritated and frustrated by the noises others make when they eat. (If this does not effect you, you are lucky.)

13. Inability to find a dog toy that doesn't get ripped apart.
Constantly needing new toys because the dog rips apart the toys in seconds. Even the "most durable" toys.

14. A huge bug in the world is individuals who harm the environment with litter and trash. it is not difficult to clean up after yourself and dispose of things properly.
This is a bug because it is harmful to the planet and inconsiderate.

15. A growing problem that my friends and I have noticed is a growing number of telemarketers calling our phones. I get 2 or 3 calls from random numbers a day trying to sell things I don't want. This is a bug because i have yet to meet somebody who wants these calls and they get our phone numbers in abstract ways.

16. Cell phone prices are astronomical these days since they are miniature computers. The bug involve is how easily they can break, especially iPhones.
If someone spends $700 dollars on a phone they should not need a $100 case to protect it.

17. Traffic after work. all you want to do is get home and relax and it takes ages.
people drive tired and some even recklessly to attempt to get home faster.

18. Bad parents that don't teach their children the difference between right and wrong. I see this at work a lot more often than i would like to.
It creates issues for the children as they get older as well as for those around them.

19. People who abuse their position of power rather than using it for good.
This is a common bug today and it brings on thoughts of racism and creates a hateful environment.

20. People who lack enough human spirit to respect and accept others as human beings instead of judging them based on their beliefs.
This is the driving force behind many societal issues and has cause a divide in our country.

I found this assignment pretty difficult because I began to run out of things that bug me. I also thought I was difficult because I had to choose things that bugged me but was not able to answer they why with why it bugged me but rather why it was a bug in the first place.

30 A Final Relfection

When recalling this semester the one thing that continues to haunt me is the nearly ancient bug list. This assignment drove me nuts. It was...
